      Hey Duffy, I started over and redid everything, and it worked. Thanks so much for the tut!! My HP mini doesn't have a disc drive, so this was a life saver.

      After trying for 2 days to recover from a Linux installation gone bad (couldnt get windows to boot from grub), I tried every rescue distro in the world, all sorts of different methods to create usb windows xp disk (no cd drive on my computer), nothing would work

      Used this tutorial, ran fixboot and fixmbr and presto... works... thank you very much. Awesome tutorial

      Hi Stephen,
      Most likely a corrupt attempt. Redownload the files and start over

      Yes I tried chainloading, wouldn't work no matter what, (tried booting from every partition etc.) Ran the boot fixes in recovery console, went back to grub and chainloading now works. Thanks again.

      Thanks for the instructions.

      I followed through everything and tried 3 times.

      When I was trying to boot my dell mini 10 from the usb, everything worked fine until after "Starting Windows Recovery Console..." the screen showed "Please wait..." and got stuck.

      It would be great if you have any suggestions. Thanks.

      Hi Gwyn,
      Check that your bios supports booting from a usb device and that it is set to boot from it.

      Hi Duffy!
      I already set it to boot to the usb, i already tried it in boot selection menu and i also tried it in the set up. The same window appears. In the boot selection menu the USB displays;
      "HDD JetFlash Transcend" JetFlash Transcend is the manufacturer of the usb.

      Hey Duffy!
      I finally accessed the USB, now my problem is, it asks for which windows installation should i refer and displays only 1 in the selection, upon choosing it, it asks for the administrator password, as i enter my administrator password it always shows "Invalid Password". But i am very sure of my password.
      .thanks for any further help

      Hi Gwyn,
      You'll need to reset your administrator password. There is a set of utilities put together called hirens boot cd it contains one for resetting your administrator password see it on http://www.hiren.info/pages/bootcd-on-usb-disk
